Battlefield is BACK

After much anticipation, the Battlefield mod will officially return Sunday evening at 11:59pm PST, pending any serious errors. I will run the mod publicly and all experience gained in the beta will be carried over. This is still a new mod, and some new features may prove to be problematic, so it will act somewhat like an open beta temporarily. For the most part, the mod should work fine, but there is always the change of an error here or there. If you find a bug, please report it to Tirant ASAP so he can fix it.

Information and guides of the mod are already becoming available in the newly created Battlefield forum. Check it out and post any questions you may have and get them answered. Many changes and some new features will be added in the future to this mod, but I do not want to keep you guys waiting, so I can always add and release those later. Some possibilities that I have decided to withhold for now are prestige mode (I'm debating the usefulness, and I would like to see how long it takes players to reach level 50 first), war bonds (a currency system that the mod may need in the future), contracts (yet another system for gaining experience through completing tasks), and items (a system for buying temporary badge bonuses that all subscribers receive).

Didn't think we'd be playing it so soon already. If you add in those things you are trying to withhold, it will make the bf2 mod seem even more primitive. Good luck with another one of your creations.

Ok, I was about to write an essay so I'll keep it short. The BF2 mod itself was really just about the badges and I've seen it leaving a lot of people with the feeling of now what? Prestige helps keep players but what stood out to me was the contract system, at least to how I understand it. It sounds like it has the potential to be near limitless with the amount of contracts and I think that will add on to more reasons to keep coming back, especially if it says something that notifies how many contracts were completed by so and so. So with all the stuff you've added, it just feels more modern and makes the BF2 feel older.

contracts = WoW dailies = keep people playing forever.
1 prestige that unlocks awp or something awesome like gold weapons will make the game twice as long = keep people playing twice as long.


There are so many things to elongate the game which is amazing, but like we talked my only concern is how to hook people in early.

from what I can remember, I was one of the last trusted server guard/subscribers in BF2 before it died.

And where were for such a long time?

this sounds so freakin beastly im gonna no life it.
contracts in blk ops=hours spent with shitty weapons just for some measly xp.
totally extends the game.

and im not plugging for sg or admin just offering. im almost always at my comp, even though i dont play cs 80% of the time, so if you need hax manager ill step up if asked.

Grip has always been here, but he mostly keep quiet and spends time stalking you.

People will be added as needed just play in there a lot if you want to get free SG. If all goes as planned it's going to be a popular server to say the least so we'll need the people.

On the flip side, since it's not a rule-based mod the only real issues I foresee in-game are spawn camping but Tirant's taken care of that.

I was a server guard in the original BF2, when mcgrip was the server leader, i don't even know what im a server guard for now, it says i am lol

dude, awesome job tirant, the mod's pretty fun.... but i do have to agree with pa.p.er's statement of that badges were cool but once everyone got them, people were like okay what can we do now?? so....contracts are definitely a MUST and a good idea.....

the one thing i want to know...is there a thing you could type, or something you could possibly add to the mod... which is a way to check what achievements you have earned.... because sometimes i dont want to spend time using a gun when there is no point to using it (unless for fun) when i already got the achievement.......

or is there no need for it?? since the achievements are limitless?? like can i keep using shotguns and end up having 300 armor??

Yes, its called /stats and /mystats, both show your you total kills deaths, kdr, and all badge stats as well as progress to the next level

what really?? because i type "/stats" like alot of time but nothing popped up... maybe its just a glitch for me i guess??

/mystats, or /stats tirant or /stats silent, it shows other players stats

If you type /stats by itself it says server has disabled this option, but if you add a name after /stats, like /stats pa.p.er, or just pa., it shows the stats of that person. /mystats shows your own stats. I just checked it right now under a garbled name I keep forgetting to change in my config.
