    Okay, so I'm not going to say much yet. At least not until I'm more developed. Basically, I want to try and make a new XP mod that is something familiar to you, but different. I'm sort of trying to take ideas that we've like and have been successful for us in the past and revamping them and mixing them together along with some of me own ideas. The main reason for this post though is because I want your guys' opinion on how you want to earn weapons.

    Due to the lack of functionality in the MW2 mod's weapon system (you don't notice it without admin), and because I sort of get the feeling that the weapons are unbalanced, I had a new idea to try. Our old BF2 mod was all CSDM weapons, meaning any weapon available at any time. That was cool and all, but I sort of got the feeling that there was no real earning anything in that mod (besides buying the occasional AWP). Our old CoD server used a different system that was basically you get a class, and the higher level you are, the better the class gets.

    My idea is fairly simple, well thought out, and creative. Basically there will be X amount of classes (no definite number yet, thinking somewhere near Cool. Each class will have X amount of tiers (again, no definite answer to how many, thinking about 3-5). Each tier is basically better versions of the same class. I want to make all classes fairly easy to unlock in the beginning so that all people sort of gain their weapons, but still have to work at least a little bit for them. A addition to this idea is custom weapons. I wanted to make each class themed, like a Soldier class, a Sniper class, Demolitions class, and all weapons would sort of have a theme as well. My example that I gave the people I've talked with so far is this: the "Rifleman" class would start out with a Famas at tier one, and maybe his tier 2 class would have a M16 that would be like the Famas, but maybe with some small changes (not better exactly, but different allocations of good things and bad things).

    Again, the cool part with this system is that I can add new weapons into counter-strike, and they will make sense with their classes. Each tier will be unlockable at an even number of levels (ie 6, 12, 18, 24...), and there will be 50 levels max. 50 is the number I would like to have, but this might change, it just seems like a good number for now. The XP system will be based off of the MW2 system, but its totally redone to work smoother and more efficiently.

    This is really all I want to say for now, there are lots more things I could add, but I'd rather keep them secret for a while, while I work them out more. I just wanted to mention parts of my idea for the weapon/class system and see how you guys would respond before I actually begin working on it. If anyone does think they have improvements, additional ideas, or ideas for a completely new system, I'm all ears...

    Edit: If this idea is finalized and the majority of people like it, start thinking up classes and their weapons (existing in CS, or new to be added). Don't post them yet though, wait until we have this idea approved. I have a general idea for about 4-5 already, but the more the better.

    from the sounds of it i wouldnt mind a class / character role system kind of like killing floor

    each class has total of 6 levels yah yah its a small count..

    but the levels are hard to get and as you progress say as a rifleman you gain enhanced head shot dmg, or accuracy or w/e i uno havnt played KF in awhile...seriously anyway i mean havnt played it seriously games kinda meeh after one of the recent patchs that added a new character role and new creationed monsters

    either way tirant if u havnt played KF get at me on steam i dunno what games u have n all and to be lil frank kinda lazy to look now as im super tired

    either way get at me at some point and we can discuss if u want or u can websurf to find out info on it

    and i just mean look into the class customization idea and maybe the guns not hte actual game play its self

    but judging from what you said i think i would fit well or decently

    Sounds great. Every MW mod has been great and where I spent the bulk of all my CS playing time.

    What I liked about the first MW, as you mentioned, were the gun upgrades within each individual class which gave it a lot of depth. It made it a requirement to continually change your class (and thus your perks) as different guns were unlocked. Another aspect I enjoyed was that you had to earn different perks as you leveled up as opposed to the current all-perks-available-in-custom-classes system. One great improvement with MW2 was the integration of the BF2mod-style-upgrade system with the weapon-class challenges that upgraded things like HP, AP and speed boosts.

    The one minor complaint I have is the flag-capture system. People generally dislike when maps go to flag mode or they just don't care about capturing flags. Flag map wins could use a huge XP boost to encourage taking flag-capturing seriously.

    tb completely h? I think having to work to unlock guns is just plain aggravating. Especially when you suck at cs as it is, save for maybe you stuck just a tiny bit less with one specific gun, but you can't use it until you spend 1-3 hours in a server mod.


    The rest of it sounds great, but the unlocking of weapons just pisses me off. Especially when I'm getting raped because I suck with the only gun I have available to me. Just makes me rage quit. Hence why I don't play CoD that much, I still do, but I hate having to grind for weapons. Just doesn't make any sense. CS is still cs no matter how you mod it, but at least let us have the weapons that we like to use. If that means making the upgrades a little harder? Then so be it. I just want to be able to use what I want. Because if I start to rage, at least I know it's my own fault, not bc of some stupid gun ya know? rofl.


    Only think I can think to say to EARNING weapons, is if you make NEW weapons make players earn those. Not the regular cs weapons we've come to know and love. That would be cool and make more sense imo.


    Other than that, it all sounds pretty cool.

    its funny, cause thats exactly how i play CoD... first sighting of an enemy, i throw and fire every explosive I got and then just spray the wall until I get him. I figure, I'd rather be alive with no ammo then dead with all my ammo.

    I think it will help people come up with things if they see what you have already. Anyway, its a good time to have a new mod and good luck with it. Like everyone else, I don't mind helping test stuff, even if its testing to see if semtex's stick to me.

    i agree with anon's comment bout earning guns

    i think it would help to make the mod relatively more team based (like how tf2's classes balance each other out)
    but not extremely team based cuz sometimes there wont be as many people on the server

    instead of custom guns why not earning skills like wcr3 or getting better version of perk (mw2) like even faster speed kinda thing

    well Wazo perhaps that could be a thought. i like it to an extent that it isnt pulled to extreme speed hacks or 1 shot kill with a mp5 bullet to the foot.

    I love the idea Tirant. Also, I'm not sure how it would work for a balance perspective, but in addressing Anon's concerns, maybe you could buy certain guns at any class and you would have them for as long as you were alive. That way, someone starting out might take a few losses in the start, but gain enough money to buy a better gun until they die. I don't think it would be to OP'd and might give rookies a better chance at competing against grinders.

    I think that might actually be a good system... have an entire class system, but also leave the buyzone (maybe with higher prices) and allow people to purchase every weapon. That way, if you have the class, you get the weapon every life. The only restriction being that you can't buy the custom weapons. I invite anyone who wants to test the mod out to join the "scooby-doo" server sometime, password is topsecretninja. I'm working on finishing up the m16 so I can move forward and add a system for adding weapons.

    Also, if anyone has any idea for a custom class and it's tiers (any weapons), I'm willing to hear them now. I'm also trying to think of another burst-fire weapon for my sort of guinnipig class. Right now I got the famas and m16, but I wanted one more at least. Someone suggested the SCAR-L, which I sort of wanted to use as an assault rifle, but that may be it. Any ideas?

    T auto, reduce its dmg make it 2 or 3 round burst so it doesnt insta gib i mean allow a sniper rifle of some sort the capability to have the zoom with a little burst in hte mix im not saying make it 1 burst kill or 1 head shot kill but you know

    That's what I was thinking Tirant. Make it cost more than normal, but not too outrageous, that way anyone regardless of class has a shot at playing. I think it's all about the numbers game at that point in regard to class power and gun balance, but you could easily find a nice equilibrium.

    G11 isn't even a real fucking gun. It doesn't exist. It was a prototype that they canceled because they realized it was a stupid fucking idea and design. It pisses me off that they would add it in Black Ops when it was never even used, and then go so far as to make it extremely good. No G11...

    I'm pleased to announce the progress I've made. I've not only added the ability to add classes super easily, I've also added pistols. So I can make any primary or secondary weapon needed/wanted for this mod. I just need to start making the classes now. I'll run the mod on public tomorrow for a couple hours maybe, just because I feel like it. Lots more needs to be added still, but the weapon class portion is a huge leap forward.
